Layout Pans

Considering this was done in the span of a (hurried) day, I'm not satisfied with the results. That being said, I had quite a bit of fun with the pan + designing the characters. On the left we have a frumpy, grumpy pipe-man who is overprotective of his pipe-filled train station. On the right we have a wide-eyed girl who steals pipes from the closed station to sell and gain prrrrrofit. Copper makes a pretty penny!

Looking back at the beginning of the semester, I remember being too afraid to lift a pencil in layout class. It's a silly fear that I still have - that whatever I create will be gaudy and filled with mistakes. But mistakes are great, mistakes are things that I can learn from. With every failure, I'll fail better and more spectacularly and I'll learn even more. All I have to do is keep drawing and scrutinizing, and drawing some more. Wahoo!

Skeleton Drawings

It's crunch time! (If this is first year crunch time, I worry to think what fourth year crunch time will be.) Bone drawings for Thurman:

I learned a confoundingly large amount from this project. I didn't expect bones to be so helpful in figure drawing  - I knew they'd be helpful, but I didn't expect them to be help that much. I was pleasantly surprised.

Also I learned to never leave printing to the last minute - yikes, that's a mistake I'll never make again. Though on a positive note, I learned that the school's Grenville printshop does fantastic colour prints on card paper. Not so much on laser paper, but the card colours make me excited and giddy.

Master Copy: Giles Beloeil

The master copy assignment in which we copy from a master and marvel at our own inequities. The best part of this assignment was probably choosing a painting. I could stare at backgrounds all day.

Original: Giles Beloeil's concept art for Assassin's Creed: Revelations

B&W Study

Colour Study

If there was one thing I could fix, I'd add a yellow glaze on the colour study. Alas this isn't something I know how without smudging the entire painting.

2012 Fall Semester Demo Reel

This was a fun one; it's nice to see the semester's work at one go.
